A unique and adventure-packed weekend. We’ll pack our snowmobiles and experience Svalbard’s wilderness, staying at the Juva Cabin, which offers exclusive accommodation for small groups.
Juva Cabin has a magical location between the two valleys, Adventdalen and Eskerdalen, with an outlook towards mountains like Drønnbremassivet and Skolten (1128m), which is Nordenskiöldland’s highest peak. Juva Cabin, also known as ‘The Jewel’ is a gorgeous cabin, which sleeps up to 10 people. With a sitting room, kitchen and three bedrooms, it provides comfortable accommodations for small groups who are looking for an exclusive experience in the middle of the wilderness.
Your trip will start in Longyearbyen, and from there we will set a course for Juva Cabin, about 30 kilometres from town. After that the North, towards Pyramiden, Fredheim and the beautiful glacier, Tunabreen, or exploring the exciting mountainous areas between the Adventfjord and Sassenfjord are some of our options. The cabin is also the perfect start point for skiing trips in the Drønnbremassivet.
After a day out, with incredible views on all sides, we will come home to our warm and cosy cabin where great food and drinks await. There is also an outdoor sauna, which the guide will heat up whenever you like. The sauna is tube-formed, with a circular glass window at one end, so you can enjoy the dark blue night over the white mountains.
The next day we will head to the east, with a goal of making our way up onto the massive glacier plateaus and down towards the sea ice on the east coast of Spitsbergen. Here we will stop to enjoy a hot lunch, and to keep an eye out for the King of the Arctic through our binoculars. If we are lucky, we may see a big bear out in its natural element, far away on the ice. The trip itself is the goal, and we will travel through a varied and powerful landscape. On our way back we will stop by the cabin and pick up our baggage before driving the last 30 kilometres back to Longyearbyen.
The participant is obliged to ensure that the driver's license is valid in Svalbard and Jan Mayen. Please contact the responsible authorities in case of any questions. The guide will check each passenger's driver's license and will refuse participation if the driver's license is not valid in Svalbard and Jan Mayen. No refunds will be given due to an invalid driver's license.

You will be sent a full equipment list before your trip. Remember that Svalbard is tax and duty free, so if you need to pick up extra gear, you can buy quality equipment in our shops.
Accommodation:
The trip can be tailor-made if you wish to stay at other places than Juva Cabin. Isfjord Radio or a tent camp are amongst the exciting possibilities.
This is an exciting, action-packed tour, but you need to be prepared to spend a fair amount of time on your snowmobile, and it therefore important that you don’t have issues with your back, neck, arms or wrists. The weather can change quickly, and at times the cold and the windchill can be extreme. The snowmobiles are comfortable to drive however, and have heated steering bars.
Before we leave Longyearbyen, the guide will give us a briefing, including information on how to drive. We will start the tour at a gentle tempo, until everyone is used to driving. While all of our snowmobiles can seat two persons, we strongly recommend that each participant drives their own snowmobile. It is much easier to manoeuvre a snowmobile with one person on it, and on long tours it is often quite cold to be the rather exposed passenger. The total distance driven on the three day tour will be about 500 km, and it will be demanding for two persons sharing one snowmobile.
A valid driver’s licence for car or motorbike is required to drive a snowmobile. Remember to take it with you on the tour. The Norwegian ‘vegtrafikkloven’ applies on Svalbard.
You will be sent an equipment list prior to arrival. Remember that Svalbard is tax and duty free, so that you can always pick up quality equipment in our expeditions shop, Longyear78.
Language
Safety is our highest priority, and the guide needs to be able to give directions you understand. To participate on one of our excursions, it is required that you speak and understand English or one of the Scandinavian languages.
